A new, low-cost shuttle bus connecting visitors of Philadelphia's historic district to Camden's waterfront is going into operation for the summer season.
For $2.00 per person, round trip, between this Wednesday and September 7th, you can board the 20-seat "Waterfront Connection" bus, which leaves the Independence Visitor Center at Sixth and Market Streets, and take a short trip over the Ben Franklin Bridge to the Camden waterfront -- providing easy access to Adventure Aquarium and the Battleship New Jersey.
New Jersey secretary of state Nina Mitchell Wells says the shuttle means a big boost in tourism dollars for the Garden State this summer:
"This is huge, absolutely huge. The idea of having the possibility of -- did I hear? -- 883,000 people possibly coming to this side of the river and really putting a lot of money into the economy here in New Jersey is tremendous."
The bus operates daily, every 30 minutes, with the first bus leaving at 10:30am from Independence Mall. The last bus returns to Philadelphia at 6:15pm.
