New Jersey is cracking down on aggressive drivers this holiday weekend -- and throughout the month of July.
Whether you're off to your favorite shore point, or just the supermarket, the Garden State's cops are out in force watching the roads:
"We will have stepped-up enforcement related to unsafe behaviors -- speeding, tailgating, running red lights, improper passing, unsafe lane changes."
Pam Fisher, the director of the state division of highway safety, says it's part of their 'Obey the Signs or Pay the Fines' initiative.
A clever rhyme, perhaps, but one with actual consequences:
"We don't want to write tickets. Unsafe speed and aggressive behaviors are contributing factors in many of our crashes in New Jersey. Last year, over 22,000 crashes were related to that. So we're really trying to send a strong message to folks."
