Pa. State Police Warn Drivers to be Extra Careful

by KYW'S Mark Abrams

With lots of traffic on the state's highways this holiday weekend, Pennsylvania state police will be out to curb bad behavior by motorists.

State police spokesman Jack Lewis says troopers will be on the lookout for dangerous drivers:

"Our troopers will be looking for erratic driving behaviors and we also encourage people on the road if they believe someone is driving erratically might be under the influence, they can call 911 and report that."

Lewis says state police also remind motorists of their obligation to obey the state's "Steer Clear" law.

On the books for two years, Lewis says it requires drivers to move over to another lane or slow down when they come upon a tow truck assisting a driver on the side of the road, an ambulance or fire vehicle on a scene, or a trooper making a traffic stop or helping a motorist.
