Fido will be able to join in on all the family fun at New Jersey shore this weekend. There is now a second dog beach on Long Beach Island.
This is the first year that dogs are permitted on a Long Beach Township beach. A 300 foot section has been opened up on the north side of Bay View Park across from the municipal building at 68th Street and the bay front.
Mayor Joe Mancini says there is supervision to make sure everyone is playing by the rules including picking up after your pooch:
"We just approved it about a month and a half ago. We have a full time manager so to speak from 9am to 5pm -- 7 days a week and everybody is getting used to the rules and regulations and everything is falling into place."
Nearby Barnegat Light also has a dog beach.
