Thousands Turn Out For Concert, Fireworks on the Parkway

by KYW's Pat Loeb

The city's Fourth of July celebration ended with a bang on Saturday night with a 20-minute fireworks display over the Art Museum. The fireworks followed a free concert on the Parkway. Thousands came out for the event.

The crowd was treated to a concert by Philadelphia's own The Roots and pop singer Sheryl Crow who won over the crowd playing hit after hit. It was all capped by a nineteen minute fireworks display that had the crowd oohing and ahhing:

“They’re just beautiful. They’re just like nothing you've ever seen before. The crowd’s everything. It was beautiful, honestly beautiful. “

“It was crazy. It was really good. It was one heck of a show.”

Many shared a sentiment expressed by Mayor Nutter over and over during the day there is no better place to be on the Fourth of July than Philadelphia.
