S. Jersey Youth Police Academy Accepting Applications

by KYW’s John McDevitt

The Willingboro Township police department is accepting applications for its new youth police academy.

The two week training program will be held in August on Monday through Friday 8am to 4pm. It’s opened to boys and girls ages 13-17 years old interested in possibly pursuing a career in law enforcement.

The application deadline is July 17th.  Twenty will be selected for the August class.

Dionne Bolden is with the Willingboro Township police department:

"Anyone who is interested [can apply]. You know it will just be as far as you want to travel because the program itself will be taking place in Willingboro, but it’s open to anyone."

Participants will be given an overview in things like criminal law, motor vehicle law, defense tactics and physical training.

For more information on the youth police academy contact the Willingboro Township police department at www.willingboropolice.com or call 609-877-3001.
