The search continues for the body of an 11-year-old boy who apparently drowned in the Delaware River, Friday night. Police have identified the adult who died trying to save him.
Philadelphia police say 43-year-old Hector Rose of North Philadelphia drowned when he jumped from a 16-foot boat into the Delaware River, to try to save his 11-year-old nephew (see related story).
According to police and coast guard officials, Rosa and another man had taken the 11-year-old out for an evening fishing trip. The boy fell from the boat and both men jumped in to save him.
The driver of the boat got back on board to try to stay with the two, who were carried away in a fast-moving current, but he lost sight of them. Rosa's body was recovered Saturday. Police have not identified the boy or the driver of the boat.
