The Village of Arts and Humanities in North Philadelphia names a new interim executive director as it continues its current transformation process.
The Village of Arts and Humanities, now known as just The Village, began in 1986 with a single public art project on an abandoned North Philadelphia lot.
Over the years, it has worked to involve community residents and volunteers to improve the North Philadelphia environment and the quality of life for those living there. Today, the Village maintains almost a half million square feet of vacant land in North Philadelphia. New Interim executive director Elizabeth Grimaldi says the Village's focus now is art programs for teens.
"We just want to give them every means of success on their way out so that they leave in a better place than when they came here."
