Area Expert Sees Summer Travel Bargains Blooming Now

by KYW's Suzanne Monaghan

Think a summer vacation is beyond your reach in this economy?  Think again.  Deep discounts are available for those ready to pick up and go.

August is typically the busiest travel month of the year.  But because of the economy, many families have packed away the thought of a summer vacation.

But that doesn't have to be the case.  Cathy Rossi, with the automobile advocacy group AAA Mid-Atlantic, says there is still time to book a trip for this summer at an affordable price:

"There are very attractive last-minute, pick-up-your-suitcases-and-go kind of deals."

Making a budget is key, Rossi warns, and use an agency rather than simply booking on the Internet.

"Tell a travel agent, 'I want to go away for x number of days and I only want to spend x number of dollars,' and they'll be able to find something within your budget, within your agenda as well."

Rossi says travel deals have never been better.
