A Philadelphia woman has admitted in a Montgomery County courtroom that she used credit cards that were stolen from several classrooms at an elementary school during a Halloween parade nearly two years ago.
Somebody went rooting through the classrooms at Plymouth Elementary School in Plymouth Meeting while the teachers were helping the kids get ready for the parade.
Police couldn’t tie 20-year-old Ciera Britton to the school, but Montco prosecutor Rebecca Strubel says they were able to link Britton to purchases that were made on the stolen cards at a local Target department store:
"Police were able to trace the access device cards through their use and video surveillance of Miss Britton as being the cards that were taken from the school.”
Britton was given four years' probation.
But her legal problems don’t end there. She was arrested in Philadelphia in late May, accused of pickpocketing customers at a center city coffee shop (see related story at CBS-3).
Police are also trying to link her to other similar crimes in the downtown area. She also spent time in the Chester County jail for using stolen credit cards.
