Delco Boy Gets Psychiatric Tests After Cat Set Afire

by KYW's Al Novack

Darby Borough police have turned a nine-year-old boy over to Delaware County youth services for mental evaluation and counseling after he allegedly admitted setting a cat on fire outside the Darby Borough free library on Sunday.

Despite intense efforts by veterinarians, the cat died of severe burn injuries.

Police say that because of the child's age, the boy will not face any criminal charges. The youngster gave police a statement about the incident in front of his mother.

Police say the case is officially closed.
