A new film is being shot in Philadelphia and its suburbs, with an all-star cast. And it's expected to bring lots of money and jobs to Pennsylvania.
The film, not yet titled, is a romantic comedy by director James Brooks, who also directed hits like Terms of Endearment and As Good As It Gets.
Sharon Pinkenson, executive director of the Greater Philadelphia Film Office, says the new film also has a pretty heavy-hitting cast:
"Reese Witherspoon, Paul Rudd, Owen Wilson, and Jack Nicholson."
And Pinkenson says there will be at least one stand-in: some scenes set in Washington are being filmed in Philadelphia:
"The story is set in Washington, DC, and we are very excited to be doubling for Washington, DC in this movie, which is a great tribute to our film tax credit program and the fact that Philadelphia can double for a lot of cities."
And that, she says, means more money for our local film industry:
"You may have noticed that we've had consistently three movies at a time shooting in Philadelphia."
Shooting is expected to continue throughout the summer, bringing an estimated 250 full-time and 1,200 part-time jobs -- and $60 million -- to Pennsylvania.
Pinkenson laments that the state's film tax credit program is in danger, due to current legislation that has already passed the Pennsylvania Senate to eliminate them. She urges people to contact their legislators.
