Officials Crow About Fugitives Snared by ''Operation Falcon''

by KYW's Paul Kurtz

Federal and local law enforcement officials announced on Thursday that during June they rounded up hundreds of fugitives as part of the US Marshal's "Operation Falcon" campaign.

The program makes them partners in crimefighting: US marshals, county DAs, and numerous other law enforcement officials. And their goal is to hunt down the "worst of the worst" criminals.

In June, law enforcement members of Operation Falcon ("Federal And Local Cops Organized Nationally") made 338 arrests.

US marshal John Patrignani (at lectern in photo) says that three of the fugitives were wanted in the June 13th shooting and wounding of Philadelphia police officer Ashley Hoggard (see related story):

"Everybody came to the table quickly and asked for our assistance.  The Philadelphia PD came to us and asked for our assistance. We contacted all our law enforcement partners and threw all our resources out at these three individuals who were wanted for shooting the police officer.  And within seven days, all three of those were apprehended."

Operation Falcon has made about 91,000 arrests since its inception in 2005.
