The Philadelphia Theatre Company is teaming up with a world-famous comedy troupe out of Chicago for a Philadelphia-centric sketch comedy show. The show is called "City of Nutterly Love, Funny as Bell".
The namesake of the play, Mayor Nutter himself, made a cameo appearance in the opening number of opening night, which was sort of a fantasy song about the city:
"Let's all give the Mayor a great big kiss! Nutter: The budget is balanced!"
Three of the six cast members are from Philadelphia, the others from Chicago. And Director Billy Bungeroth stresses they make fun of what they like:
"From the Mummers to the Mayor, I think we've got them. (So there's nothing sacred here?) No, nothing sacred at all."
Nope. Nothing:
"KYW has traffic on the two's."
"Nutterly Love" runs now through July 26th at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre on Broad Street.
