The Valley Swim Club in Huntingdon Valley agreed on Sunday to work out an agreement to allow Philadelphia camps, which were turned away last week, to return.
John Duesler, the head of the swim club's board, apologized for the cancellation of pool access last week for 65 city kids, mostly black and Hispanic.
"We are very, very sorry that this had to happen."
The statement came after the club's membership voted nearly unanimously to reinstate swimming privileges for the kids.
Attorney Brian Mildenberg (right) represents a mother and her four children who had initiated a class action suit against the club:
"We commend the swim club and the swim club president for coming out in this manner, and it's a very positive development."
Mildenberg said that if the agreement is acceptable to Creative Steps day camp, which was turned away, he would suggest to his client to place the class action suit on hold.
The terms of that agreement, including the cost to Creative Steps, have yet to be negotiated.
