Philly Zoo Stays Open Late Thursday for Sunset Safari

by KYW's Karin Phillips

The Philadelphia Zoo is holding a Sunset Safari Thursday evening, giving visitors a rare look at the zoo in the evening.

The Philadelphia Zoo usually closes at 5pm but on Thursday, closing time won't come until 8pm, so the zoo can hold its first Sunset Safari. Communications director Bill Larson says it will give people a chance to visit the zoo after work and perhaps after a little dinner as well:

"When people come to our Sunset Safari, they are going to see our zoo in a whole new light and visit our animals as they get ready for bed. There's going to be wonderful family-friendly music and you going to be able to see special feeding demonstrations for some of our animals too."

The zoo is holding another Sunset Safari on August 7th.
