In Phila., Online Universities Promote Scholarship Availability

by KYW's Mark Abrams

The "Empowerment Tour," carrying what it called a 'career stimulus package,' arrived in Philadelphia on Thursday.

A recreational vehicle painted in red, white, and blue patriotic insignia was the centerpiece of the event on Dilworth Plaza, sponsored by eLearners.com, representing hundreds of online university programs.

Stephanie Clark, tour director, says help is being offered to employed, unemployed, and underemployed adults who want to go back to school:

"We're providing an opportunity for them to apply for up to $4 million in full-tuition scholarships as well as paid internships, and also an opportunity to meet with career coaches to help guide them in making choices about either starting new careers or transitioning from employee to entrepreneur."

The tour heads for Franklin Mills Mall on Friday. For more information, go to www.careerstimuluspackage.com.
