Online voting is underway for an exhibit that will be featured in the National Museum of American Jewish History, which is under construction on Independence Mall.
Officials at the museum say the building is on budget and on time, scheduled to open in November of next year.
Michael Rosenzsweig is the president and CEO of the museum, he says you can get involved by voting on which history maker will be featured in an exhibit called "Only in America." The exhibit will have a multimedia presentation of 18 individuals:
"They will be selected from a universe of 218 candidates that have been put together by our panel of historians. They'll be in the fields of arts and entertainment, business and philanthropy, literature, performance, politics, law and activism, religion and thought , science and sports."
He says you can select three individuals from each of the eight categories.
Among candidates: Albert Einstein, Barbara Streisand, and Howard Cosell. Voting ends on August 6th.
"We hope this will educate people about our country and in particular the compelling stories that will fill the gallery."
