What do local political and policy experts expect from President Obama in his prime-time press conference tonight?
Well, they aren't expecting very many surprises.
Health care is the announced main focus of Obama's opening remarks. Edward Turzanski (top right) is a political science professor at La Salle University and a senior fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute in Philadelphia:
"He's got some explaining to do, specifically because of the Congressional Buget Office estimates in terms of how much it's going to cost and how many people aren't going to be covered by the program."
And like Turzanski, Michael Hagen -- professor of political science at Temple University (middle right) -- will be looking for pointed questioning from the press:
"I expect the questioning to be quite tough this evening. There are a lot of issues on which the president can be questioned closely -- not only health care but the status of the economy, the new relationship with Iraq, and how things are going in Afghanistan."
And Richard Harris, a political science profesor at Rutgers University in Camden (bottom right), would like to hear
about defense preparedness and foreign policy:
"What's the relationship between the State Department and the White House since there has been a bit of a buzz about the role of Secretary Clintion and the foreign policy decision-making process."
