Montgomery County law enforcement officials say they will aggressively go after kids who are wreaking havoc on the Schuylkill River bike trail in the Norristown area after a biker fired shots at two teenagers he says accosted him Wednesday night. (Related story)
The man called Plymouth Township police and told them he fired several shots at two teenagers he had a confrontation with on the trail. The man told police one of the teens kicked him in the ribs while he was riding and words were exchanged. The Norristown man faces numerous charges, including attempted murder -- but District Attorney Risa Ferman says there are still a lot of questions that need to be answered:
"It looks to me like two punk kids acting like idiots out on the trail trying to bully someone else. Unfortunately the man overreacted, and now finds himself in trouble with the law. It’s going to be up to us to sort it all out.”
She certainly doesn’t want people arming themselves but Ferman has reason to be angry. She was on the bike trail with her husband a few weeks ago and had an encounter with a group of young people she describes as “aggressive” and “territorial.” Two other people have reported being assaulted on the trail.
