The former receptionist for a Main Line chiropractor accused of hiring a hit man to try to kill his estranged wife (see related stories) delivered some shocking and potentially damaging testimony during his trial on Monday morning.
Yvette Hawkins told the court that when his divorce started, Alan Kushner (in photo above) started doing weird things around the office. She says he hung a Halloween mask of a witch with his wife’s name taped to the forehead and began chanting “die Sari, die” over and over again in his office.
Sarran Kushner was shot in the wrist last year in the driveway of her Bala Cynwyd home. The shooter has never been found. After the shooting, Hawkins told the court she overheard the doctor talking to a patient about money.
Under intense cross-examination, defense attorney Frank DeSimone tried to get her to admit she was lying and only came forward with information when she found out there was a reward. She testified that she was worried about Sarran’s life.
The doctor faces attempted murder and related charges.
