NASA Asteroid Watch Camera Shows 'Close Encounters'

If you're a fan of the movies "Deep Impact" or "Armageddon" then NASA has a website for you, to put you on the asteroid watch.

The camera gives earthlings a look at what happens near Earth, though, near is a relative term when talking about outer space. Millions of miles can be considered "close" encounters with asteroids, and each year several basketball-sized asteroids actually enter the Earth's atmosphere. About one Volkswagen-sized asteroid enters the atmosphere, as well.

If you want to see what's going on in the great beyond, visit http://www.jpl.nasa.gov/asteroidwatch
