Suburban drivers heading into the city or to the Phillies game on Thursday are being asked to avoid the eastbound Schuylkill Expressway because of the continuing flood clean-up and repair that's been underway all week.
Despite repeated warnings to drivers, hundreds of motorists have been caught up in monumental traffic jams that not only clogged the eastbound side of the Schuylkill, but also the Blue Route near the connection with I-76 in West Conshohocken.
PennDOT is telling drivers to use the Blue Route to connect with I-95 north as an alternate.
Other alternates into the city are: Rt. 23, Lancaster Avenue, West Chester Pike, Ridge Avenue, and Henry Avenue. Public transportation is another option.
Road crews will have the right hand lane on the eastbound side, east of Conshohocken, closed down for heavy equipment as mud clean up and repairs on the drainage system continue.
As always, stay tuned to Traffic and Transit on the 2's for the latest conditions.
