Just days after the Philadelphia Eagles announced they were giving Michael Vick "a second chance," a security employee fired last March says he's waiting for the team to give him a second chance.
After doing time for his dogfighting conviction, Michael Vick got an opportunity to redeem himself (see related story). Now, Dan Leone (right) says that he wants his opportunity for reprieve, too:
"I figure, if a guy like that can get a second chance to make millions, why can't I get a second chance? I won't cost them that much to work there."
Last March the Eagles fired Leone, a game-day security worker, after he criticized the team's decision not to re-sign Brian Dawkins on his Facebook page.
Leone told WIP Radio on Tuesday morning that he would take his job back if the Eagles offered:
"I deserve a second chance. I didn't commit any crimes or kill any dogs. And I'm left jobless."
Eagles spokeswoman Pamela Browner-Crawley says the difference is that Leone broke team rules, and then went public, speaking to the media:
"As Coach Reid said the other day, not everybody deserves a second chance. It's what do you do once you make a mistake, and how do you move forward?"
She says Vick earned his second chance by apologizing, and pledging to do the right thing.
