Labor Day is Patriot Golf Day, which is actually not just a day but a long weekend designed to raise scholarship money for children and spouses of military men and women who have been killed or disabled.
Dozens of courses in this area are taking part. See below for more information.
Next weekend, the focus shifts to Merion and the Walker Cup. American team captain Buddy Marucci says if you go, you'll be treated to something special:
"Tremendous competiton. Wonderful players, many of whom they're going to watch on television for the next ten or 15 years -- major champions, probably.
"And I think they're going to see an event that is unique. The esprit de corps between the teams from Great Britain and Ireland and the United States is unique. It has been going on for close to 100 years. Tremendous tradition."
Its also just a great way to experience Merion, and bigtime amateur golf.
You can get Walker Cup tickets and more information at 2009walkercup.org, and for a list of participating Patriot Day courses go to patriotgolfday.com.
