Michael Nutter met privately on Wednesday with Mayor Street, the first sit-down between the two since Nutter won the Democratic nomination to succeed Street as mayor of Philadelphia.
Nutter came to the office he hopes to occupy in January: Room 215 of City Hall, now occupied by his frequent political foe, John Street.
Nutter said the session with Street was devoid of acrimony:
“It was primarily a policy discussion. He likes policy, I like policy. We had a great time.”
The budgets of the city and the school district were among the topics, according to Nutter. And he said he did learn a few things:
“I’m increasingly learning how (chuckles)... how tough the job is!”
Street has promised regular briefings to Nutter and his GOP opponent Al Taubenberger, heading toward the November general election.
