A self-described white supremacist was behind bars in Montgomery County, Pa. on $ 1 million cash bail after he was accused of threatening to shoot up Springfield Township. Police say he had the arsenal to do it.
According to court papers, police got a call from a concerned person who said that 22-year-old James Gallagher of Wyndmoor was posting profanity-laced threatening messages on his Facebook page. A detective went undercover on the social networking site and was able to read several postings from late August.
Montgomery County district attorney Risa Ferman says there were pictures of Gallagher holding AK-47 and AR-15 rifles:
"He was threatening to shoot up Springfield, to just really cause massive destruction to the local community, and he had significant firepower.”
A search warrant executed at Gallagher’s home on Wyndmoor Avenue turned up guns, ammunition, and white supremacist memorabilia including a flag that said “White Pride, World Wide.”
Ferman says they have to take the Internet threats just as seriously as they would take threats that are written in a letter and given to someone.
