Suspect Sought in String of Suburban Phila. Bank Robberies

by KYW's Pat Loeb

The FBI is looking for a serial bank robber who has hit five banks in the Philadelphia suburbs, including one on Monday morning in Willow Grove (Montgomery County), Pa.

FBI spokesman JJ Klaver says surveillance tapes show that the same man has been responsible for five bank hold-ups since August 5th:

"Basically, he walks into the bank branch -- and they've all been TD Banks so far -- and he walks up to a teller and makes a threatening demand and then flees the bank."

Klaver says the robber may be driving a red SUV, possibly a Ford Explorer. He's robbed TD Bank branches in Jamison, Richboro, Warrington, and Christiana, Del., in addition to the one in Willow Grove.

Klaver says he hasn't shown a weapon but the FBI considers all bank robbers armed and dangerous.

If you recognize him, the FBI would like to hear from you.
