''The Geator'' Gets Involved with SpongeBob Album

by KYW’s David Madden

A local radio legend is about to take his act “underwater”, so to speak.

“The Geator” Jerry Blavat has done radio, TV shows and movies over his 46-year career. His oldies albums are collectors items around here.

But come the fall, he adopts a new persona -- to appeal to a whole new generation.

”My name now is Al Bacore.”

At least, on a new album featuring the cast of the kiddie TV show “SpongeBob SquarePants”.  Blavat says he was recruited by Tom Kenny, the voice of SpongeBob:

”Tom calls me up and says ‘Listen. I’m putting an album together with all of the people who live in Bikini Bottom and we’re looking to develop a disc jockey that’ll be spinning tunes under the dunes’.”

If “the boss with the tuna sauce” catches on, Blavat may find himself in a recurring role on the show.
