A vigil will be held next week in Montgomery county for the detained American hikers who've been held in Iran for nearly two months. One of the hikers: a Cheltenham High School graduate from the class of 2000.
Thirty year-old Alex Fattal is anxiously awaiting the day when he and his younger brother, Josh, will shoot hoops again at their parents' Elkins Park home. Josh, 27, and his two friends were detained in Iran after the three Americans strayed into the country while hiking near the border on July 31st:
"We haven't been able to get them on the phone. Haven't been able to pass a letter to them or get a letter from them. It's just extremely difficult. That uncertainty -- you go to bed with it, and it's the last thing you think about before you fall asleep. And we're just hopeful that the situation will change soon."
the families have launched a website, freethehikers.org, and vigils are planned for them including this coming Wednesday night at the Curtis Arboretum, located at 1250 Church Road, in Wyncote starting at 8 o'clock.
