Philadelphia Celebrates World Space Week

by KYW’s John McDevitt

It’s World Space Week and to celebrate Philadelphia's Franklin Institute has special exhibits.

Emphasis will be on robotics. Michael Burns is the director of the youth programs at the Franklin institute:

"NASA, the jet propulsion laboratory sent us a replica of the Mars rover. We have a few humanoid type robots that have been donated by the University of Pennsylvania that will also be here and the rR2-D2 robot will also be here among others.”

And if you want a robot of your own there is information at the R2D2 builders club where Blake Mann is a member:

"We have a Yahoo group that anybody can join. It’s a free club to join. All of the plans for building an R2 unit are on the web site."

To join, go to http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/r2builders.
