Professional sports are a big part of many of our lives. They can provide countless hours of entertainment as well as an escape from reality. This is particularly important during tough economic or political times. For many people watching sports on TV or in person, it can also serve as motivation for getting out and exercising. But it is important to enjoy sports and be realistic about it.
There is no way the vast majority of us can perform at the level of professional athletes and it is a big mistake to think that you can work at your regular job all week and then go out and play games like you did as a teenager.
The key is to keep things in perspective. Don't overdo it and make certain that you pace yourself. The successful approach to exercise is building up slowly over time and trying to be consistent. The major problem for the weekend warrior is the fact that weekends come after five days of no activity. The best way to exercise is to take one day on and one day off.
