Philadelphia Sees New Parking Ticket Protection Company

by KYW's Hadas Kuznits

A new parking ticket protection business is gaining momentum in Philadelphia.

Shamah Howell (right) with Ticket Protection says the new company, which was established last month, tracks and pays its clients parking tickets to they don't have to:

"Once you pay that initial sign-up fee, we're already tracking your license plate. So any tickets that you get from the date of your sign -up payment, we will pay."

Clients then pay a monthly fee. The amount of that fee varies based on the different levels of service. Howell adds, every welcome packet includes free smart cards with which to pay your parking meters:

"We're trying to reduce the risk of getting a parking ticket, not eliminate a parking ticket.  But in the event that they get a parking ticket, we will pay it on time so that they're not penalized with fines and penalties and ultimately a boot and towing."

Towing fees are not included in the service.
