There are some things you’re not supposed to bring into a courthouse. Illegal drugs are pretty high on that list.
A Montgomery County, Pa. teenager found that out the hard way on Tuesday morning when she was taken into custody in Norristown.
Montgomery County sheriff John Durante believes that 19-year-old Rose Frankil of Collegeville, Pa. was coming to the courthouse to meet with an attorney about a DUI case. She was stopped at the metal detectors at the Main Street entrance when deputies found syringes, heroin, and a bag containing what’s believed to be prescription pills.
Durante says it’s not a common occurrence but it does happen once in a while:
"They’re coming to a courthouse, so that means they’re either here for themselves or somebody else. To walk into a courthouse with drugs is just unbelievable.”
He says Frankil was taken into custody without incident and didn’t provide an explanation for why she had the drugs. She was charged with possession and released on $25,000 unsecured bail.
Less than two weeks ago, a woman was arrested in Doylestown, Pa. for trying to bring cocaine into the Bucks County Courthouse.
