West Chester Pike between Route 320 and I-476, the Blue Route, was closed during rush-hour due to a multi-alarm fire that broke out in a strip mall shopping center.
Drivers had to deal with lots of congestion during the morning rush due to fire equipment at the scene.
No injuries were reported in the fire along West Chester Pike near New Ardmore Avenue in Marple Township's Broomall section.
The fire was placed under control just after 4:00am. The fire broke out in the Goodhill shopping center around 2:00am, and quickly escalated to a four-alarm blaze.
The blaze spread quickly, engulfing the entire two-story strip mall. The strip mall was destroyed. Among the businesses gutted were a hair salon, a nail salon, a flower shop, a computer store, a Chinese restaurant and a tattoo parlor.
The mop-up took several hours.
