As the South Jersey shore deals with one nor’easter headed out and another one on the way, localities have been dealing with everything from a little rain to flooded roads -- and more.
You might call it a major pain rather than a disaster. Drivers have been finding detours at times on some major roads because of tidal flooding (Atlantic City at right).
Mother Nature’s first wallop wasn’t as bad as many expected, but Avalon, NJ public information officer Scott Wahl says they’ll be watching the beaches throughout the weekend:
"The problem spot for us is the north end of Avalon, from 9th to 18th Streets. Northeasterly wind with a lot of wave action really erodes the beach in that area."
The full scope of any damage to beaches really won’t be known till Monday. But because that second nor'easter comes just as the phase of the moon is new (meaning higher tides), they’re keeping their fingers crossed.
