Phillies fever is in high gear and many of us are grabbing up the goodies anywhere we can, but beware of the fakes.
With the Phillies playing October ball, many of us are scrambling to get our hands on signed merchandise and other memorabilia, but you have to be careful, because not all of the stuff out there is real. Ted Taylor is co-owner of STAT Authentic LLC an authentication company in Montgomery County, Pa.:
"The stars are always most frequently forged, Ryan Howard, Chase Utley, Cole Hamels. We see a lot of those forgeries, because they're inherently expensive."
Make sure any item you buy comes with a third party authentication and with signatures, look closely, if the ink between the letters has pooled, the writing was done slowly and deliberately, that could be a fake, because most of us sign our names fast and the letters flow together.
