Zagat Survey Reveals Philadelphians Tip Really Well
|
by KYW's Hadas Kuznits
A new Zagat survey shows trends in the habits of restaurant-goers.
The nationwide survey looked at how the habits of restaurant-goers were impacted by the economy. Tim Zagat, co-founder and CEO of the Zagat survey says when it comes to tipping in this economy, Philadelphia stood out:
"You people are the city of brotherly love! I don't why, but Philadelphia has been year after year, the most generous city when it came to tips."
And what is the norm?
"Well, I always thought I was being very generous at 16 and a half percent! But, I noticed a few years ago that people were doing 19 percent and Philadelphians are something like 19.6%."
So where do people prefer to spend those generous tips?
"Highest rated foods are French and Italian consistently but the most common in terms of eating and also what people say they like to eat as a rule, it's clearly Italian."
