by KYW’s Al Novack
The Juvenile Diabetes Research foundation held its annual walk to cure diabetes on Sunday in honor of national diabetes month.
The Philadelphia Diabetes Walk for the Cure had a familiar course and begins at 10am at the art museum and went through Fairmount Park ending at about noon.
Several thousand people took part in the walk. The hope is to raise $2 million for research and education. Similar walks were held nationwide in close to 200 towns and cities.
The walk first began in 1970 and has over the years attracted many major corporate sponsors for the cause.
