Yes, you can be jealous of me. I was at last week's classic game in the National League Championship Series. It was definitely a game I will never forget. 400 level down the left field line, but in the ballpark.
Now you are asking ‘why is he using KYW's valuable web site to gloat’. There is a reason. Unlike the fans in L.A., Philadelphia fans stay until the end of games which leads to a traffic nightmare. So as Carlos Ruiz crossed the plate, I began a mad dash to my car. Down the steps, through the concourse, out the gate, across the parking lot joined by hundreds - if not thousands - of other fans screaming and rushing for their cars.
It was only after I reached my car slightly wheezing with my lungs filled with cold midnight air that I realized how foolish I was to go from a sitting position for almost 4 hours into a brisk dash. Yes, it is the ultimate stress test but the chance of a pulled muscle, or worse a cardiac event, was possible.
I bring it up because I was not alone in my foolishness. This scenario is played out again and again and with the World Series potentially running into November, a bit of advice: Take your time and don't give yourself a stress test. I understand that sitting in the car in traffic leaving the game is a stress test all its own but it is probably better to enjoy the moment and forget the mad dash.
