Peanut Allergies Are No Treat at Halloween

by KYW's medical editor Dr. Brian McDonough

You know there are many Halloween warnings about candy safety, about people trying to poison candy, and about razor blades in apples. I mean you’ve heard the horror stories, and sadly they do occur. That's why we always encourage parents to make sure they look at their children's candy.

But one of the things could be totally innocent. You may be getting candy that your child could be allergic to, especially if they're a peanut allergy sufferer. If they get candy that has that problem, it's something that has to be examined. That’s why you, as a parent, have to look at every piece, and if it comes down to being a close decision, get rid of it.
