Auditor general Jack Wagner is again calling on the Rendell Administration to reduce the number of “no bid” contracts awarded by state government.
Auditor general Jack Wagner released an audit last week, and said the Rendell Administration’s relationship with a technology consulting firm was a “textbook example” of problems with too many no-bid contracts.
In a WHYY radio interview on Friday, the governor said Wagner was, “full of bull,” and again pointed to Wagner’s plans to run for governor. On Tuesday, Wagner called a news conference to respond to Rendell’s comments, saying he stands by his call for competitive contracts:
“That is a profound difference between me and the governor based on his comments since our last audit. And I want to state very clearly today that we want to see something change.”
Governor Rendell defends the no-bid contracts for Deloitte Consulting, saying the firm was being rewarded for work that he says saved the state tens of millions.
