The National Constitution Center and KYW Newsradio are presenting a special event next Monday that will examine the idea of an American aristocracy.
American aristocracy is a panel discussion on the more than strange relationship between American and Great Britain. Just why did we fight for our freedom from a king, only to be fascinated by the British royalty and our own American dynasties?
Biographer Sally Bedell Smith says in the sixties, Americans had the example of Jackie Kennedy:
"When I was doing my book about the Kennedy White House, I found all sorts of descriptions of the Kennedy White House as being Bonapartish or like a Tudor Court."
The event includes an afternoon tea, and a private viewing of the exhibit Diana: A Celebration. For tickets, call 215-409-6700.
