Eat Healthy Now and Enjoy the Holidays Later

by KYW's medical editor Dr. Brian McDonough

Thanksgiving is just a few weeks away and with it comes the traditional feast, followed by the traditional comments like why did I eat so much and the traditional belly ache and fatigue.

If this sounds familiar you are not alone. Just between me and you, I don't think this is a bad thing. One day of celebration with family is worth the extra calories. But I have a suggestion. Why not take the next few weeks before Thanksgiving to jump start your way to a healthy diet. Many of us eat that turkey dinner and say I better start losing weight and exercising now but the next thing they know they are facing the holidays and the lifestyle change begins on New Years day, and then the cycle continues.

Try to make some headway in the next few weeks. Make some lifestyle changes. You will feel better now and then you can really relax and enjoy that holiday meal.
