As winter comes, you get to appreciate gardens in new ways, and it’s also a chance to visit gardens you may never have seen, such as the Haverford College Arboretum in Haverford, PA. It includes the entire campus and it’s free and open to the public, everyday. There are two self-guided walking tours you can follow with brochures – and most trees are marked so you can see what’s what.
You can also enjoy the Nature Trail that winds through their Pinetum, a collection of conifers that’s a great place to visit any time of year, including winter, since most of the trees are evergreen.
And this weekend, you can also enjoy a free lecture all about Winter Gardening with well-known gardener Paul Epsom at the Sharpless Auditorium at Haverford College, Sunday November 8th at 2 PM. Click on the links below for details and directions.
