Victory Helps GOP Retake Control of Pa. Supreme Court

Republican Joan Orie Melvin has been elected to Pennsylvania's highest court.
She beat Democrat Jack Panella in a race that will change the partisan balance of the seven-justice Supreme Court.
Melvin's victory restores a one-seat majority the GOP lost two years ago.
The battle's visibility was raised thanks to the millions of dollars that poured in from trial lawyers and organized labor, which fueled a barrage of attack ads by both candidates.
