Phila. Police Trying to Identify Kensington Rapist

by KYW's Ian Bush

Philadelphia police are looking for a man wanted in a series of rapes and beatings in the city's Kensington section.

Authorities say three women have been attacked in the area of Kensington Avenue between Ontario and Westmoreland Streets since the beginning of October:

"They're either pulled into an alleyway by an unknown male -- and the other, in the third case, the victim accompanied the male into an alley -- but subsequently, the offender in all of these cases beats these women about the face and head with his fists."

Special victims unit captain John Darby says each of the women was raped, and all three attacks happened in the early morning hours.

The suspect is described as a stocky black man in his late 20s to early 30s, around 6 feet tall with a moustache and a scruffy beard.
