Local Church Choir Heads to Detroit for National Competition

by KYW's Karin Phillips

Members of a local church are heading to Detroit for a national gospel choir competition.

Bishop Andrew J. Ford II and the Anointed Voices of Ford Memorial Temple will be in Detroit for Saturday's "How Sweet the Sound" gospel music choir competition. Bishop Ford and his church members are ecstatic:

"The choir's been singing about 15 years now. So this was exciting time for us because they have worked very hard to get this kind of national attention.  It's been just phenomenal."

The national competition will not be televised so Ford Memorial Temple is opening its church at Germantown Ave. and Hunting Park on Saturday night at 7pm for a public screening. For more info, call Ford Memorial at 215-225-5069.
