One local mall is jumping into the social media frenzy this year in hopes of attracting more customers to its' stores during the holiday shopping season.
Gone are the days of waiting for those department store circulars to arrive in the newspaper the day after Thanksgiving. Shoppers looking for bargains are hoping to get a jump on the shopping season and officials at the Montgomery Mall say they’re tuned in.
Marketing manager Kirsten Boettcher says people who use one of the more popular social networking tools can find out what’s going on at the mall:
“And as we receive different sales and promotions from our retailers and restaurants, we place the information up on our Twitter page.”
That holiday shopping season kicks off on Friday night at the Montgomery Mall with the arrival of Santa during a parade between six and eight o’clock. Old Saint Nick has been showing up at the mall the week after Halloween for a few years now.
