Concern Grows After 8 Fires In 2 Weeks In Doylestown Boro.

by KYW's Brad Segall

Authorities in Doylestown Borough are investigating a series of suspicious fires that has residents and business owners a little anxious about whether the culprits might strike again.

In less than two weeks, firefighters have been called out to extinguish 8 fires that are being called suspicious by investigators - the latest 3 coming overnight Sunday into Monday morning, all within a short walking distance of each other.

Police chief James Donnelly says his department is stepping up patrols late at night but they also need help from residents.:

“People should be concerned but they also should be vigilant and keep an eye on what’s happening in town.”

Many of the fires were set in trash cans. There have been no injuries. Donnelly says they’re working on several theories but believe the same person or group of people is responsible for the blazes.
